SUMMER CLASSES – JULY 5th - 16th 2010 Our summer classes focus on diversifying our actor’s skills by offering intensive week long workshops in multiple areas of theatre. All classes are open to new and returning students ages 11 to 17. How we are different from other summer acting programs: Quality Training - Our classes offer professional training for the serious acting student. Classes focus on learning the skills needed to become a highly trained performing artist not just a “performer”. Quality Instructors - Theatre Arts Conservatory instructors are professional actors, directors and experienced theatre educators. Personalized Training – We have a student teacher ratio of 8:1. We achieve a lot in a short time and do so by keeping our programs well-staffed with a low student-teacher ratio. A Non-Competitive, Supportive Atmosphere - Supporting and sharing in the talent and growth of each student with focus on trust, ensemble and ritual accompanies all of the work done in class. Students don’t compete for parts or lead roles. Mixed Age Groups - We have found when young actors are taken out of their exclusive peer group they make tremendous creative leaps. When our youngest actors find themselves among students a bit older they are far less likely to be caught up in the chaotic energy that comes with exclusive groups of young children and begin modeling the older actors. Our older students are less likely to be caught up in the social model of what is “cool” when working in mixed age groups. This is imperative for an actor to really be able to let go and work creatively. The mixed age group creates a dynamic and balanced ensemble where the actors thrive. Flexibility – Sign up for one, two or all four sessions. Students aren’t required to commit to multiple weeks of classes as in other summer programs.
